Cursillo

“Cursillo,” or short course in Christianity, is a spiritual movement that originated in Majorca, Spain in 1949. Initially, Cursillo was a retreat intended to refresh Christian leaders making a faith pilgrimage. In 1957, Cursillo arrived in the USA, and today has served millions.

What is a Cursillo? (Pronounced: Cur-see-yo). The Cursillo weekend is an invitation for you to experience the love of Jesus Christ on a personal level and to bring this love and joy into your daily life. The Cursillo weekend begins on Thursday evening and concludes on Sunday evening. During the weekend, you will listen to talks given by a team of lay people and spiritual directors, have the opportunity to participate in small table discussions, prayer, Divine Liturgy, meals and fellowship. Cursillo calls those who desire to grow spiritually.

Marriage Encounter

Restore communication. Renew commitment. Rekindle romance. One weekend can change everything.

Marriage Encounter began in 1952 when a young priest in Spain, Father Gabriel Calvo, began developing a series of conferences for married couples, whose focus was on the development of an open and honest relationship within marriage and learning to live out a sacramental relationship in the service of others. Presentations end with a question designed to encourage the couple to look at the concepts presented in terms of their own relationship.
